US Soccer Settles Fight To Protect IP, Gatorade Contract

Law360, New York (October 7, 2011, 6:41 PM EDT) -- The United States Soccer Federation Inc. on Friday announced it had settled its suit in Illinois alleging that The FRS Co. LLC's advertisements featuring a professional soccer player in uniform violated trademarks and interfered with a contract with official sponsor The Gatorade Co.

The agreement resolved allegations that ads using current women's national team member Christie Rampone to promote FRS' line of energy drinks violated U.S. Soccer's trademarks by including Rampone's jersey.

Details of the settlement were not disclosed.
