Viacom Strikes Deal To End 'Super Bowl Shuffle' IP Row

Law360, New York (October 19, 2011, 5:45 PM EDT) -- The owner of the copyrights to the music and video for the 1985 Chicago Bears' "Super Bowl Shuffle" on Wednesday settled a suit accusing Viacom Inc. of using the video without permission.

Attorneys for both Viacom and copyright owner Julia Meyer filed a stipulation of dismissal in Illinois federal court, ending the dispute over clips played on Viacom-owned MTV and VH1 television channels and websites.

Settlement details were not made available, and attorneys for the parties did not immediately respond to requests for comment Wednesday....
