3rd Circ. Upholds Ex-NJ Lawmaker's Bribery Conviction

Law360, New York (October 19, 2011, 10:59 PM EDT) -- The Third Circuit on Tuesday affirmed the conviction of a former New Jersey legislator for taking a $10,000 bribe to speed up permits for a multimillion-dollar real estate project.

A three-judge panel rejected ex-state Assemblyman Daniel Van Pelt's arguments that a district court had incorrectly instructed the jury that convicted him in May on counts of bribery and attempted extortion.
