Atty Barred From Misleading Mortgage Lawsuit Clients

Law360, Los Angeles (October 19, 2011, 9:21 PM EDT) -- A California judge on Wednesday granted a preliminary injunction against a lawyer handling dozens of lawsuits against mortgage lenders on behalf of clients the state’s attorney general says were lured in by false promises.

Judge Jane L. Johnson granted the office of the attorney general's request for an order barring lawyer Mitchell Stein from making false claims to clients and potential clients, saying the record supported the attorney general’s contention that Stein was involved in a scheme to defraud the clients.
