Judge Won't Allow Appeal Of DirecTV Arbitration Order

Law360, Los Angeles (October 24, 2011, 6:22 PM EDT) -- A California federal judge on Monday refused to allow certain consumers in a putative class to seek an interlocutory appeal of his order compelling arbitration of their claims over DirecTV Inc.’s early cancellation fees in the wake of the U.S. Supreme Court decision in Concepcion.

The decision keeps elements of the procedurally complex class action against DirecTV split between the district court and the Ninth Circuit. The plaintiffs had argued that allowing an appeal of the arbitration order would consolidate all issues before the appeals court....
