Disney Can Keep $56M In HD Fees From EchoStar: Jury

Law360, New York (October 25, 2011, 2:57 PM EDT) -- A New York state jury on Friday found that television networks owned by The Walt Disney Co. had followed the letter of their licensing contracts with EchoStar Satellite LLC in collecting $56 million in fees for high-definition versions of their broadcasts.

The New York Supreme Court jury returned a verdict in support of ESPN Inc. and other Disney-owned television networks, rejecting the satellite network operator's argument that the media conglomerate had violated the licensing agreements by demanding extra fees for the HD channels.
