NY, Del. AGs Mull Criminal Charges Over Mortgage Abuses

Law360, New York (October 26, 2011, 4:26 PM EDT) -- New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman said Tuesday he and his Delaware counterpart, Beau Biden, are considering bringing criminal charges against individual banks and bankers who committed mortgage abuses that contributed to the foreclosure crisis and fueled fraudulent securitization practices.

In an interview with MSNBC's Rachel Maddow, Schneiderman said he and Biden had started an investigation into lending and securitization activity by major U.S. banks and that criminal charges remained a possibility. He said those who caused the 2008 mortgage meltdown should be held responsible....
