Netflix Privacy Battle Shipped To Mediation

Law360, Washington (December 2, 2011, 5:44 PM EST) -- A California federal judge on Friday ordered Netflix Inc. to proceed to private mediation in consolidated litigation accusing it of violating the Video Privacy Protection Act by storing the financial information and viewing history of a class of former customers who have canceled their accounts.

U.S. District Judge Edward J. Davila signed off without further comment on the parties' agreement to mediate, which they said would take place in or before February and would wrap up by April 30. Attorneys for the parties did not immediately...
