Blagojevich Loses Last-Minute Bids Ahead Of Sentencing

Law360, Chicago (December 2, 2011, 6:18 PM EST) -- A federal judge rejected former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich's latest attempt to ditch his convictions on bribery and other corruption-related charges Friday, killing the bid mere days before the fallen politician is to be sentenced for orchestrating extortion schemes while in office.

U.S. District Judge James B. Zagel also denied one other post-trial motion Friday that the ex-governor filed based on purportedly new evidence, and said that Blagojevich's sentencing hearing, set to begin Dec. 6, will likely take at least two days.
