Blackwater Settles Suit Over 2007 Baghdad Shootings

By Rachel Slajda (January 6, 2012, 4:32 PM EST) -- The contractor formerly known as Blackwater Worldwide Inc. has settled claims by the estates of some of the Iraqi civilians who were allegedly killed or injured by Blackwater employees in Baghdad in 2007, lawyers for the Iraqis' estates told Law360 on Friday.

The company, which changed its name from Xe Services LLC to Academi LLC in December, paid an undisclosed sum to the victims' estates to end the case, which was pending in the Fourth Circuit, according to attorney Gary V. Mauney of Lewis & Roberts PLLC.
