9th Circ. Decertifies Class In Honda Braking System Suit

Law360, New York (January 12, 2012, 7:43 PM EST) -- The Ninth Circuit on Thursday dissolved a nationwide class action accusing American Honda Motor Co. of misleading consumers about the benefits of a specialized braking system on Acura RL cars, ruling that a lower court erred in granting class certification.

In a split opinion, the Ninth Circuit ruled that the class previously certified by the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California lacked key commonality and choice of law requirements.
