PBGC Demands Info On AMR Pension Plans

Law360, New York (January 13, 2012, 8:37 PM EST) -- The Pension Benefit Guaranty Corp. asked a New York bankruptcy court on Thursday to authorize subpoenas and order American Airlines Inc. parent AMR Corp. to produce documents over company-administered pension plans that the federal agency worries could be terminated.

The PBGC said AMR hasn't addressed the treatment of the four plans that it oversees for about 130,000 employees and retirees since it filed for Chapter 11 protection on Nov. 29, but the company's lead bankruptcy counsel raised the “specter” of plan termination during a Dec. 14...
