Feds Seize 16 Sports Streaming Sites In Copyright Crackdown

Law360, New York (February 2, 2012, 7:07 PM EST) -- Three days ahead of the Super Bowl, federal agents announced Thursday that they had shut down 16 websites that streamed copyrighted professional football, basketball and other sporting events and arrested 28-year-old Yonjo Quiroa, who allegedly operated nine of them.

Quiroa is accused of running the sites, which provide links to other websites that host pirated sporting events, out of his home in Comstock Park, Mich. He has been charged with one count of criminal infringement of a copyright, the U.S. Department of Justice said.
