Ex-Soldier Admits To Recruitment Bonus Scam

Law360, New York (February 3, 2012, 5:06 PM EST) -- A former soldier pled guilty Friday in Texas federal court to participating in a scheme to obtain more than $240,000 in fraudulent recruiting bonuses from the U.S. military and one of its contractors.

Former Spc. Xavier Aves, 40, who collected at least $69,000 in fraudulent bonuses for his role in the scheme, pled guilty to one charge of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and one count of aggravated identity theft for unlawfully using the name and Social Security number of a potential soldier to attain an...
