Judge OKs ConocoPhillips Deal In Water Pollution MDL

Law360, New York (February 14, 2012, 8:03 PM EST) -- A New York federal judge has approved a settlement between ConocoPhillips Co. and the City of Merced Redevelopment Agency in multidistrict litigation over groundwater contamination from gasoline additive methyl tertiary-butyl ether, according to an order filed Tuesday.

U.S. District Judge Shira Scheindlin signed off on the settlement Friday, indicating that Merced RDA had resolved claims that ConocoPhillips had polluted the California county's property by releasing MTBE into the groundwater. The settlement terms were not revealed Friday.
