Megaupload Heads Socked With More Piracy Charges

Law360, New York (February 17, 2012, 5:29 PM EST) -- The U.S. Department of Justice on Thursday lodged a superseding indictment in a Virginia federal court against Megaupload.com and its principals, bringing new counts of copyright infringement and wire fraud to the alleged pirate site and its principals.

In addition to the new charges, the defendants are alleged to have reproduced copyrighted works directly from third-party websites, such as Google Inc.’s YouTube LLC, to make them available for reproduction and distribution on its related site, Megavideo.com.
