Milberg Weiss Kickback Trial Gets The Go-Ahead

Law360, New York (August 7, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- High-profile class action law firm Milberg Weiss Bershad & Schulman will go to trial early next year on charges it bribed clients to act as lead plaintiffs in securities suits for over 20 years, a judge ruled Monday.

U.S. District Judge John Walter, of the Los Angeles federal court, denied motions to dismiss 17 charges alleged in a criminal indictment brought against the firm last year, but reserved judgment on three mail fraud counts, saying he would take them “under submission.”
