Akamai Buys Speedera; Companies Settle Bitter Fight Over Patents, Trade Secrets

Law360 (March 17, 2005, 12:00 AM EST) -- Akamai Technologies has acquired rival Speedera Networks for $130 million in a deal that resolves the two companies’ bitterly fought patent and trade-secrets litigation, which had reportedly become prohibitively expensive.

Under the terms of the deal, Akamai will exchange 12 million shares for all of privately held Speedera's outstanding shares, its company-granted stock options and its India-based subsidiary.
