Dukes Ruling Prompts Title Agent Class Decertification

Law360, New York (March 22, 2012, 5:01 PM EDT) -- A federal judge on Thursday decertified a class of title agents seeking to exclude nonattorneys from acting as agents for several title insurance companies after the insurers argued the U.S. Supreme Court’s recent ruling in Wal-Mart Stores Inc. v. Dukes invalidated the class.

In a minute order that was not accompanied by a written opinion, U.S. District Judge Robert N. Chatigny reversed a March 2011 ruling by another federal judge who certified the class.
