RockYou Tightens Data, Child Privacy Protections In FTC Deal

Law360, New York (March 27, 2012, 5:40 PM EDT) -- The Federal Trade Commission on Tuesday reached a settlement in California with RockYou Inc. over the social gaming company’s allegedly insufficient data security and unlawful collection of information from children, putting into practice guidelines released in a report a day earlier.

While the FTC stressed that its final online privacy framework, released Monday, was “not intended to serve as a template for law enforcement actions,” the RockYou settlement reiterated the best practices for online privacy and data protection recommended in the report.
