Lawmakers Tell Feds To Get Cracking On $1B NJ Bridge

Law360, New York (March 29, 2012, 6:38 PM EDT) -- New York and New Jersey lawmakers leaned on the Obama administration Thursday to speed environmental approval of a $1 billion bridge project that would provide access to their constituents' ports when huge cargo ships begin accessing the East Coast via the widened Panama Canal.

Politicians including Sen. Charles Schumer, D-N.Y., and Frank Lautenberg, D-N.J., wrote Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano urging fast-track review of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey’s plan to raise the Bayonne Bridge roadway by 64 feet.
