Judge Dishes Up Win For McDonald's In Happy Meal Dispute

Law360, New York (April 4, 2012, 10:11 PM EDT) -- A California state judge on Wednesday tossed a putative class action accusing McDonald's Corp. of violating state consumer protection laws by using toys to market nutritionally poor Happy Meals directly to children.

In a ruling from the bench, Judge Richard A. Kramer in San Francisco sustained the fast food giant's objections to the suit brought by named plaintiff and parent Monet Parham. The judge denied the plaintiff leave to amend the complaint, according to McDonald's attorney Scott Elder of Alston & Bird LLP.
