8th Circ. Grounds Ex-Northwest Pilots' ERISA Age Claims

Law360, New York (April 9, 2012, 7:58 PM EDT) -- The Eighth Circuit on Monday nixed a bid by a group of pilots to revive their class action over once-bankrupt Northwest Airlines Inc.’s retirement plan, which they said reduced or eliminated their benefit payments because of their age.

Northwest, which filed for Chapter 11 protection in 2005, and the Air Line Pilots Association union got the suit started in 2007 when they asked a federal court to declare that the post-bankruptcy retirement benefit plan they had hashed out complied with the Employee Retirement Income Security Act....
