Apple Can Intervene In Lodsys' IP Suit Over Game Apps

Law360, New York (April 13, 2012, 1:35 PM EDT) -- Apple Inc. on Thursday was permitted to weigh in on a licensing company's lawsuit accusing Electronic Arts Inc. and other video game makers of infringing a pair of network communication patents in games developed for Apple's iPad and iPod devices.

Over objections from plaintiff Lodsys LLC, U.S. District Judge Rodney Gilstrap granted Apple's motion to intervene in Lodsys' suit in Texas federal court accusing several game developers of making mobile device games that draw on Lodsys' patented network connectivity methods.
