Google, Oracle Feud Over Jury's Charge In Android IP Row

Law360, New York (April 13, 2012, 6:34 PM EDT) -- Google Inc. on Friday wrestled with Oracle Corp. over the jury instructions for the companies' upcoming trial, arguing against Oracle's bid for including a clarification of the copyrightability of the Java programming language at issue in their dispute over Google's Android operating system.

In its opposition to Oracle's bid to modify the jury instructions for Monday's trial, Google argued that the plaintiff is attempting to unreasonably augment a previously ordered jury instruction asserting that the application programming interface names associated with Oracle's Java are not copyrightable....
