Google, Banksy-Linked Artist Accused Of Ripping Off Photos

Law360, New York (April 24, 2012, 7:51 PM EDT) -- The estate of rock photographer Jim Marshall on Friday sued Google Inc. and well-known street artist Thierry Guetta — who goes by Mr. Brainwash — in California federal court, claiming the artist created works based on Marshall's photos without permission.

Guetta — who gained notoriety after being featured in “Exit Through the Gift Shop,” an Oscar-nominated documentary directed by British graffiti artist Banksy — is alleged to have ripped off photos Marshall had taken of a number of famous musicians, including John Coltrane and Jimi Hendrix....
