Enviros Challenge Calif. Law That Speeds Up CEQA Suits

Law360, New York (April 24, 2012, 5:37 PM EDT) -- An environmental lobbying group on Monday filed a suit in California state court challenging a new law requiring that environmental petitions for major real estate projects be filed directly with appeals courts in order to expedite challenges to job-creating developments.

The Planning and Conservation League argues that the new law, which went into effect in January and is known as A.B. 900, violates California's state constitution by depriving petitioners the opportunity to bring their claims elsewhere and denying the appeals courts their right to decide whether...
