NBBJ Exits Suit Over Boy's Fatal Staples Center Fall

Law360, Los Angeles (April 27, 2012, 4:06 PM EDT) -- A California judge Friday dismissed global architecture firm NBBJ LP from a wrongful death suit brought by the parents of a 2-year-old boy who fell from a luxury box after a Los Angeles Lakers game, saying claims against the Staples Center's designer are time-barred.

California Superior Court Judge Susan Bryant-Deason ruled that any defect in a 10-inch glass barrier Lucas Tang fell over in November 2010 was open and obvious — not hidden — limiting wrongful death claims against the entertainment center's architects to four years...
