NY, Fla. Claims Trimmed In Toyota Acceleration MDL

Law360, New York (May 7, 2012, 7:04 PM EDT) -- A California federal judge overseeing multidistrict litigation against Toyota Motor Corp. over economic losses from sudden unintended acceleration defects on Friday dismissed most claims from Florida and New York plaintiffs whose vehicles had never experienced problems.

In granting most of Toyota's motion to dismiss, U.S. District Judge James V. Selna found that Florida law prohibits economic loss claims by plaintiffs whose vehicles have not experienced the purported sudden unintended acceleration defect.
