Verizon Challenges IRS Appeal In WorldCom Case

Law360, New York (August 31, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Reorganized debtor Verizon Business Global LLC has attempted to quash an interlocutory appeal filed by the Internal Revenue Service in WorldCom Inc.’s Chapter 11 case.

The move comes after the bankruptcy court sided with the information technology provider in a three-year dispute over an excise tax.

Verizon Business, a unit of Verizon Communications Inc., asked the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of California on Thursday to dismiss the IRS appeal, claiming that the court had not entered a final order regarding the tax dispute...
