Judge Tosses Retired Players' NFL Suit

Law360, New York (September 10, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A federal judge has granted the National Football League Players Association's bid to toss a proposed class action brought on behalf of 3,500 former players, ruling that the plaintiffs lacked standing to pursue their claims under California’s unfair competition law.

In an order handed down Thursday in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, Judge William Alsup dismissed claims brought by retired professional football players Bernard Paul Parrish, Herbert Anthony Adderley and Walter Roberts III.
