NY AG Taps Ex-Prosecutor To Lead MBS Probe

Law360, New York (June 4, 2012, 11:18 PM EDT) -- New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman revealed Monday that he had hired a former federal prosecutor to run the office's investigation into banks' practices in putting together mortgage-backed securities during the housing bubble.

Schneiderman hired Virginia Chavez Romano, a former assistant U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York who has prosecuted numerous white collar crimes, according to the attorney general's spokesman James Freedland.
