Corbis Tells 9th Circ. Actress's Publicity Suit Preempted

Law360, Los Angeles (June 7, 2012, 9:36 PM EDT) -- Digital image company Corbis Corp. told the Ninth Circuit on Thursday that television actress Shirley Jones' right to a publicity lawsuit over the licensing of red-carpet photographs is preempted by the Copyright Act, and warned Jones' suit could "blow up" the photo licensing industry if it's revived.
