Gupta Defense Rests Case In Insider Trading Trial

Law360, New York (June 12, 2012, 8:05 PM EDT) -- Lawyers for former Goldman Sachs Group Inc. director Rajat Gupta on Tuesday rested their defense to insider trading charges he faces, ending their presentation without having Gupta take the stand.

Defense lawyers ended their case in New York federal court without having Gupta testify, after backing down from an earlier commitment to have the former board member take the stand. Jurors are scheduled to begin deliberating late Wednesday, after the lawyers spend the day on closing arguments.
