Judge Nixes Glaxo's Bid To Strike Paxil Testimony

Law360, New York (September 17, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A federal judge has granted in part and denied in part GlaxoSmithKline's bid to strike portions of the plaintiffs' expert witness discovery testimony in a case alleging that the antidepressant Paxil caused a teenager's violent behavior and suicide attempt.

In an order handed down Monday in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, Judge Martin J. Jenkins granted a request by defendant SmithKline Beecham Corp., which does business as GlaxoSmithKline, for leave to resume Dr. Joseph Glenmullen’s deposition for an additional three-and-a-half hours....
