DC Circ. Tosses Tycoon's $500M Freshfields Suit

Law360, New York (June 22, 2012, 4:43 PM EDT) -- The D.C. Circuit on Friday affirmed the dismissal of a $500 million lawsuit launched by oil tycoon Jack J. Grynberg's company claiming Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP had been a part of an alleged conspiracy with the Grenadian government to kill an oil exploration contract.

Although the lower court had said the lawsuit was barred under the doctrine of res judicata because of a prior lawsuit in New York federal court over the same licensing effort, the appeals court affirmed the dismissal on the alternative grounds that...
