Fantasy Author Headed To Prison After Too Many Tall Tales

Law360, New York (June 29, 2012, 4:16 PM EDT) -- A Georgia fantasy author was sentenced Thursday to more than 12 years in federal prison for defrauding four people — including two women he romanced — out of nearly $7 million by conning them with grand investment schemes and fake lawsuits.

U.S. District Judge Julie Carnes of the Northern District of Georgia sentenced Mitchell A. Gross to 12 1/2 years in prison plus three years of probation on wire fraud and money laundering charges related to the schemes, according to court documents. He also must pay...
