FCC Wants Full 9th Circ. To Review Political Ad Ban Ruling

Law360, New York (July 2, 2012, 5:26 PM EDT) -- The Federal Communications Commission asked the Ninth Circuit on Friday to take another look at a decision that struck down a ban on political issue and candidate ads on public broadcast stations.

In a petition for an en banc rehearing of an April 12 panel decision, the FCC argued the ruling undercuts the long-established goals of public broadcasting by opening up stations to the same market forces and influences that commercial broadcasters face.
