Burberry Seeks Toss Of California Leg Of Bogart Dispute

Law360, New York (July 11, 2012, 1:32 PM EDT) -- Burberry Ltd. told a California federal judge on Tuesday that litigation over publicity rights of the late Humphrey Bogart should be handled in New York, asking the court to consolidate the suit with an earlier complaint in New York or toss it entirely.

The U.K.-based fashion house said the court should dismiss Bogart LLC's California infringement suit over the designer's use of a photo of Bogart wearing a Burberry trenchcoat in the movie "Casablanca," arguing it is improperly filed and doesn't state a case.
