Campaign Aide, Others Swept Up In HHS Bribery Sting

Law360, New York (July 17, 2012, 11:04 PM EDT) -- A former Illinois lawmaker's campaign treasurer and six others were arrested Tuesday after corruption charges were unsealed that detailed their alleged bribery scheme to secure $25,000 in federal grants that was foiled in an undercover probe by the FBI.

Dean Nichols, 62, the treasurer of the campaign committee for former Illinois state Sen. Rickey R. Hendon, D-5th District, was hit with three counts of bribery conspiracy for allegedly offering kickbacks to an undercover FBI agent posing as a private contractor with ties to a fictitious U.S....
