Apple Seeks $2.5B From Samsung In Smartphone Patent Case

Law360, New York (July 24, 2012, 2:12 PM EDT) -- With days to go before a smartphone trial between the two tech giants kicks off, Apple Inc. said in a court filing Monday that it "conservatively estimates" that it is entitled to $2.525 billion in damages from Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd.

In a brief filed ahead of the trial scheduled for Monday, Apple also said that if it is found to have infringed the two standard-essential patents Samsung has asserted as counterclaims, Samsung's damages cannot exceed one-half of 1 cent per Apple product sold for each...
