Judge Declines To Sanction Samsung But Scolds 'Theatrics'

Law360, San Francisco (August 3, 2012, 4:58 PM EDT) -- A federal judge on Friday scolded Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. and its attorneys from Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan LLP for their "theatrics" in publicly releasing evidence that had been excluded from the closely watched patent trial with Apple Inc., but denied Apple's request for severe sanctions.

After Samsung on Tuesday sent to several media outlets the excluded evidence, which it said proves it did not copy the design of Apple's iPhone, Apple asked the judge to issue an order that Samsung infringed Apple's design patents...
