Sites Targeted Over Web-Shopping Patent

Law360 (October 4, 2007, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Microsoft Corp., eBay Inc., Yahoo! Inc. and a slew of other companies were hit with a patent suit Wednesday by a data management company that says the companies' shopping sites use its technology for searching product catalogs online.

Along with co-defendants Shopzilla Inc., ValueClick Inc., PriceRunner Ltd. and Pricegrabber.com Inc., the companies stand accused of trampling U.S. Patent Number 6,275,821, which is owned by Fremont, Calif.-based PartsRiver Inc. and its previous incarnation, Saqqara Inc.
