NYC Tenants Score Class Cert. In Rent Control Case

Law360, New York (August 7, 2012, 10:06 PM EDT) -- The tenants of the luxury Midtown East apartment building Whitehouse Estates on Monday won class certification in their case against a landlord they claim unlawfully charged them market rates while pocketing New York City rent control benefits.

New York Supreme Court Judge Anil C. Singh determined that the nine Whitehouse tenants who launched the suit — which targets Whitehouse Estates Inc., two affiliated companies and owner William W.
