Volkswagen Pays $8M To Resolve Sunroof Class Action

Law360, New York (August 9, 2012, 9:06 PM EDT) -- Volkswagen of America Inc. on Wednesday settled for $8 million two consolidated class actions over allegedly defective sunroof drains that drivers say caused damage to their cars, five years after the suits were launched.

Though the parties reached the $8 million deal two years ago, nonparty class members and Volkswagen appealed a magistrate judge's preliminary approval of it to the Third Circuit, but the appeals court sent it back to the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey in March.
