State Farm Settles Studio Suit Over Marilyn Monroe Photos

Law360, New York (August 16, 2012, 6:10 PM EDT) -- State Farm General Insurance Co. and a studio that owns the rights to several iconic photos of Marilyn Monroe agreed to a settlement Tuesday, resolving a suit accusing the insurer of wrongfully refusing to defend the studio from a trade dress suit over use of the late actress's image.

U.S. District Judge Ronald S.W. Lew granted a joint motion to dismiss all of Tom Kelley Studios Inc.'s claims against State Farm pursuant to the settlement, adding that the court will retain jurisdiction to enforce the agreement....
