Exxon, CBS, Vertellus Shell Out $30M For Superfund Cleanup

Law360, New York (August 20, 2012, 11:18 PM EDT) -- Exxon Mobil Corp., CBS Corp. and chemical producer Vertellus Specialties Inc. agreed Monday to pay almost $30 million to clean up a Superfund site in West Virginia.

In a consent decree filed in the Northern District of West Virginia, the three companies promised $11 million to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the state of West Virginia to cover past cleanup costs at former industrial sites around the Sharon Steel Run tributary in Marion County, W.Va.
