CalPERS Dodges Suit From Disabled Emergency Workers

Law360, Los Angeles (August 23, 2012, 9:57 PM EDT) -- A California state judge on Thursday tossed a lawsuit brought by a proposed class of emergency services employees who accused the California Public Employees' Retirement System of unlawfully revoking special investment credits if they took a disability pension, saying employees sought double recovery on their investments.

Judge Anthony J. Mohr said California law bars the potential class members, which include police officers and firefighters who were injured on the job, from recovering their optional CalPERS investments for prior military service and air time while on disability....
