Publishers Pay $69M To Settle State AGs' E-Book Claims

Law360, New York (August 30, 2012, 2:18 PM EDT) -- Attorneys general from 55 states and territories have reached a $69 million settlement with HarperCollins Publishers LLC and two other book publishers over allegations the companies fixed prices for e-books, according to court papers filed Wednesday.

HarperCollins, Simon & Schuster Inc. and Hachette Book Group agreed to the deal to resolve claims that they conspired to raise e-book prices through the adoption of a new pricing model for selling the electronic books.
