Chevron Faces Indemnity Claim In Navy Subcontractor Suit

Law360, New York (August 30, 2012, 6:40 PM EDT) -- Chubb Corp. unit Federal Insurance Co. lodged a third-party complaint on Thursday against Chevron Energy Solutions Co. in a $1.4 million insurance dispute over work performed by contracting firm Piedmont Mechanical Inc. on a Navy power plant project, arguing that Chevron is obligated to indemnify FIC.

While FIC said the court should dismiss Piedmont's suit filed in June claiming that FIC and Chevron violated the Miller Act by refusing to pay the company for completed work after it was wrongfully terminated from the project, it asked...
